to be “the better angels of our nature”.

-LOWERTOWN ARTISTS CREATING POSTERS FOR THE PUBLIC TO SIGN,
AFFIXED TO THE SHOP’S WINDOWS,
AS A TESTAMENT OF OUR SOLIDARITY WITH PARIS,
FOR FRANCE.

Fear/hate devours our humanity.
The killings triggered an ocean of solidarity, empathy, and calls for accountability
—but, also triggers the risk of an unreasoned backlash that will compound the tragedy
– suffered by Paris, Beirut and any human who is deemed not human and murdered.
Hate cannot defeat hate.

shrieking children at Shriners Hospital.

The surgeries are to restore the medial and ulnar nerves in my left hand/arm.
My nerves’ conductivity is damaged from decades of wheelchairs, crutches, canes,
cross-country skiing and “stand biking”!
My left hand is numb.
The situation must be attended to because the condition is progressive.
If not attended at this time, I will lose use of my left arm!
I will then have the option of applying for being the home plate of baseball teams.
“Run! Run! Please, don’t step on my face!” 🙂

We decided to schedule the surgeries between the end of kayak season
and
beginning of cross-country ski season!
NO USE of my post-op hand/arm for SIX weeks- THIS will be fascinating!
Nerve surgery is a beast-quite different from the joint/prosthetic procedures
in my repertoire of experiences!

The 4 week recovery marker will be on 21 November,
