‘A LULLABY for the HEART of ALL’
is a real story of
an intimate celebration
– a paper cut-out promised as a gift
to welcome the birth
of
a dear friend’s first granddaughter,
a namesake of the infant girl’s late great-grandmother,
whose ancestral homeland
was
Ukraine.
X
Suddenly,
the original art,
10″W x 8″H paper cut-out,
of
once
soft yellow daisies, luminous silver stars on periwinkle blue
was re-created
and
re-set
to align with a shocking world event:
Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
X
The dance of daisies
became
courageous sunflowers,
Ukraine’s national flower,
the scatter of luminous stars
were now resolutely
circling around the blooms,
and
the overall composition
was designed as a balm,
a serene heartbeat lullaby,
to
quiet
traumatized
hearts.
X
The
blue and yellow hues
are
the soft colors of Ukraine’s flag.
Blue and yellow are colors of renewal and hope.
Sunlight and vast open blue skies.
X
A collaboration was organized
and
a limited edition of posters
became a vehicle
to
raise funds
for humanitarian aid
to / for Ukraine:
‘A LULLABY for the HEART of UKRAINE’.
