Trump,

has a long history of disparaging military service

Trump, who avoided military service by citing a bone spur in his foot, has disparaged veterans who were wounded or captured or went missing in action and even compared his fear of sexually transmitted diseases to the experience of a soldier, saying in 1993, “if you’re young, and in this era, and if you have any guilt about not having gone to Vietnam, we have our own Vietnam. It’s called the dating game.”

It is a history filled with contradictions, of a man who denigrates his handpicked generals while saying no one supports the military more than he does, and of a commander in chief who questions the bravery of some soldiers even as he reversed disciplinary action against a Navy SEAL over the objections of Pentagon officials. He was raised in a family that criticized the value of military service, according to niece Mary L. Trump, but nonetheless he was sent to a military academy for most of his teenage years…

Military historians said there is no precedent for a commander in chief to have made such attacks on the military he oversees.

Charles’ presence was further heightened by the poignant presence of  the first light hurricane lamp of civil rights activist,

Julian Bond, with his wife Pam.

It was beautiful to have the radiant presence of these two revolutionary souls, two men, at once,

-constellations of breaking through to new vistas of symphonic harmonics of humanity,

together-one on stage and the other receiving.

Both messengers of the beyond and spiraling toward.

Lowell as the conduit.

I spoke to Julian Bond and he reminisced knowing my relatives Harris and Clare ( Emmy Lou) Wofford.

Harris worked closely with the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., as his civil rights attorney.

Mr. Bond told me to continue to press forward with my work- which many times addresses social justice issues.

Bill was once very shy, an introvert.

Brilliant and precise, loyal and keeps his word.

There is a deep “chord” between us-

that can never be set asunder.

We listen to live music together, 

we will meet at the dog park

early in the morning after his  weekend rounds

and,

every Thursday. I stop by his office- the day of his clinics

and

 bring him homemade food/soup

or

a

Breaburn

 apple.

 

Simple gestures of: I see you. I care.

I love him.

I am so proud of him.

I am fiercely loyal to/of him.

We both “get” our passions

and

the round the clock focus and balancing act.

We know what we do is indivisible to who we are

– and relationships that want us to get the chain-saw out

and

are jealous of our passion

do not work.

That demand is an injurious request

and

reveals that whoever asks that is looking for a projection,

a fantasy

– and not loving welcoming the totality,

the gift, the irreplaceable treasure

of who we are.

Love is an energy that breaks open energy.

An adventure- not a kidnapping.

My brothers and I are complex

– not complicated,

hearts/minds/souls.

PERIOD.

I created a 14 foot painting for him

and

wrote a prayer on its back,

up the spine of the painting:

Dear God please preserve and protect

the sacred wilderness of my brother’s soul.

Every night he ascends the stairs to his bedroom

and passes the painting,

and.

every morning he descends the the stairs

and passes the painting.

Blessings to him night and day/day and night.
