My ART HAND/ right hand/ is a reluctant bystander and gasps

at the wild renderings of my left hand.

I can actually “feel” my brain heat up as I work.

Surprising.

Fascinating.

Beautiful.

Fifteen days post-op.

My NON-ART hand is thoroughly a 4 year old WILD child!

I draw with this WILD hand on large boards- grasping onto  fine art colored pencils.

AWAY we go! I simply watch!

I then cut the boards with my late Mother’s 53 year old paper cutter

using my ART HAND’s forearm to push the blade down

as the WILD child holds the board in position.

I then arrange/compose the parts- akin to creating a mix-tape or editing a film.

The finished works dance, FLY and sing and do 4 year old JOY– and, keeps my LIGHT on.

Last night, a friend looked at the 6 LEFTMINGCOBALT works.

He remarked: “These are drones and extra-terrestials!”

The cobalt blue used in the exquisite porcelains of the Ming Dynasty came from Persia.

I was a double major: Chinese History and Studio Art as an undergraduate: an ancient soul explorer.

First works after my ART HAND,my right hand, was reconstructed on 25 April 2016.

Very humbling.

I am NOT left handed nor ambidextrous.

My Mother encouraged me to become an artist

– and, my right hand became my BREATH/ my WING/my FREEDOM song.

It is appropriate that I would create on THIS day, 8 May 2016, Mother’s Day,

in her honor and in gratitude.

for “watching over” me of the first 10 days after the 5 procedures- 3 hour surgery.

for watching over my English Springer, Jaspar Obi, in my absence.
