About EYE OF THE LAMB:
Gertrude Margaret Lowthian Bell
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gertrude_Bell
She has been called the female Lawrence of Arabia, which, while not inaccurate, fails to give Gertrude Bell her due.
She was at one time the most powerful woman in the British Empire: a nation builder, the driving force behind the creation of modern-day Iraq.
X
1920’s Baghdad is brought to life as we hear the story of
Gertrude Bell’s
improbable transformation
from Victorian aristocrat to “Queen” of Iraq.
X
A death-defying, globe trotting adventurer, Gertrude Bell
(played by Annie Enneking)
tells us how she gained “Personhood” in the Arabian Peninsula
and drew the borders of modern day Iraq.
X
EYE OF THE LAMB
takes a frank look at British Imperialism in the Middle East
and the contradictory woman
who played a pivotal role in colonization,
while simultaneously fighting against it.

Catherine L. Johnson is an interdisciplinary artist.
Her PRIVATE RHYTHM triptych was selected for the production of
EYE OF THE LAMB
because of the wide exploratory nature of her work and the artist’s resonance to
Bell’s maverick character/”personhood”.
