My hip is deteriorating FAST
and
I am being kept still.
I feel like an ancient Grecian sculpture whose marble hip has cracked
while in a traveling exhibition.
I am being kept still by being laid into a box full of sawdust.
The local museum director is awaiting the arrival
of the Chief Conservator of the British Museum
for analysis and an integrated, comprehensive treatment plan
on how to make repairs.

The amazing grace and orthopedic surgeon Dr. Mark Heller,

Physician’s Assistant Jeff Ballard
totally reconstructed my right knee on 27 September 2012, has
passed the baton/the Excalibur/the Orthopedic roaring blue flame torch
to
Dr. Robert Trousdale to enter the hip that received
a THR on 26 May 1999 by Dr. Rodney H. Peterson.

Dr. Mark B. Coventry was my touchstone of artist/surgeon genius

he was my template of amazing grace humanity.

With the unique algebra of my body’s musculoskeletal system,
I carefully filter and, then select my dance card partner/surgeons by:
their poetic, adventurous and keen intelligence,
their improvisational skills,
their creative courage to envision a blueprint, a map, of a wilderness of a place
that they have had no previous training to enter with all of its uncertainty and risk,
their leadership capacity to work collaboratively
their uncanny ability to call out the genius within each of their colleagues with the
non-hierarchical vehicle of a roundtable;
their honesty;
their integrity
and
their humanity.

On 18 August 2014,
while Ferguson burned,
I fell and slammed directly upon my right hip made fragile by osteolysis,
and
Dr. Heller is paying his respects to his genius peers who preceded him
by keeping me still -awaiting Dr. Trousdale’s entrance into my wilderness.
