–  me,
the unique

BLOOOOOM

of my
Daddy’s love for my Mom,
(her beloved husband of only 10 years – an intimate forever love story)
 of my
Mom’s love for my Daddy,
and
of their

their story of prevailing

for
EACH

The fifteenth of January 1997
was my Mother’s,
my Mom’s,
Doris Eileen Cottor Johnson Omlie’s
last day on Earth.

X

My Mom told me THREE revelations
that she had held tight,
unfolded,
like a

rosebud

[ rohz-buhd ]
in her heart.
My Mom told me to bloooom me.
The next morning my Mom was dead,
and
the unfurled, opened, petals of her rose
were now an incandescent alive constellation
within me
to inspire
the continuous

unfolding / revelation

of
who I am.

Momentous.

Revelations that stated:

I SEE YOU.

I LOVE YOU.

YOU WILL RISE.

X

X

X

I think of the experience
of that night,
twenty-three years ago.
I can see her turning toward me.
I can see her face.
I can hear her voice: slow, firm, declarative.
Her revelations were distilled, spare.
No embellishment.
A sacred telling.
Urgent.
I listened – rapt.
I wept with its gravity and release to live me.
I thanked her.
I kissed my Mom
goodnight.

TODAY’s DailyOM:
“…Nearly every revolutionary change
in the history of human progress
came about because someone questioned
some time-honored belief or tradition
and
in doing so revealed a new truth,
a new way of doing things,
or
a new standard for ethical and moral behavior.
A commitment to staying open and inquisitive
in our own individual lives can lead us
to new personal revolutions and truths,
truths that we will hopefully,
for the sake of our growth,
remain open to questioning.”

Mom in her garden with her Abby (left) and Winston. August 1997.
A crystalline moment that captured her spirit.
I took this picture.

My Mom loved loving
what is life:
all the vicissitudes of life – the joys and sorrows,
all that laughed, cried, bloomed,
barked, explored, achieved,
failed and tried again,

hoped for

and
blue skies where bluebirds fly.

the dreams that you dare to dream

come

 HEAVENINMYMOUTH  2012
silver inscribed lines and hovering radiance on deep indigo
mixed media on board
10″H x 7.75″W
O
O
O
My work is improvisational.
I start…and, then it is fulfilled,
until.

O
My works are icons of life.
Sanctuaries of, for, from and to the senses.
Impossible to document-
the work is dynamic, expansive and deep,
and
cannot
be
captured.
O
My work is listening to music.
Movement and stillness.
Open fields and silence.

O
I listen to music.
Researching, investigating, tasting
and
touching  sound until…a diamond is found.

O
My senses are dialed up
and
the sound enters my body.
O
I feel frequencies of color.
The colors have emotional resonance,
as does the scale
and
the interactive experience
of the work
with the viewer.
Awakenings/Awareness
O

The experience of my art is an encounter.
Private.
Personal.
An intimate dialogue.
O
The communication is whispers and sounds
of the heart and sensuality-
the life force.
One feels my work through their
open palms and open heart.
Divinity/Humanity/Sexual/Breath

O
In the studio,
I enter into a complete falling/flying trust.
Frightening.
Rapturous.
Both separately and both at once.
Fear and Desire.
Day and Night
Yin and Yang.
Breath.
O
Once I arrive, and my work
 has visceral depth and magnitude,
and is true to me,
I will then research
into multiple disciplines
of inquiry/fields of thought and expressions
to discover the universality
of what I have created.
I will now consciously decide
to compose/create
with
more intensity and rhythm
to
call out
the constellations of possibilities/responses
I am invoking.
O
I am an artist.
I am not an illustrator, or a house artist – a commercial artist.
O
I listen to the sound of my internal silver horn.
The Divine within me guides my art.
My work is a vehicle of communication.
It calls out to what is within the viewer.
O
Heaven and Circle:
O
The circle symbol meaning is universal, sacred and divine.
It represents the infinite nature of energy, and the inclusivity of the universe.
O
In Chinese macrocosmic symbology,
the circle expresses the shape of heaven,
with earth signified by a square.
O
The deeply significant yin yang symbol is circular,
and
thus speaks to us of encompassing
the whole of duality
with intent
for
unified
 balance.
O
CIRCLE:
MOUTH CHAKRA
OPENING MOUTH SILVER CHAKRA
Lives in alignment with higher principles,
leads by example, manifests depth, charisma, and wisdom.
O
Metaphysical law:
The Law of Faith/Trusting in Spirit.
We all know more than we believe.
O
Symbolic color: silver
The color of silver is white the Latin word for silver.
Argentum derives from the Sanskrit word meaning ‘white’ and shining small wonder.
The metallic color can be associated with dignity of kinship.
Silver is also the symbol of purity in all its forms.
It is pure light.
It passes, unsullied and transparent through crystal clear water,
the reflection of a mirror
or
the flashing of a diamond.
It is like a clear conscious pure intent.
 Open heartedness, fair dealing.
It summons faithfulness to follow in its footsteps.
Clear can be applied anywhere.
It brings light into all chakras and all parts of the body.
Clear is frozen light containing all colors.
Transparency.
O
Musical note
Each chakra vibrates at a different frequency.
When in balance, the mouth chakra will resonate with the musical note G#.
O
Planet of the Mouth chakra: Jupiter
Jupiter – The Meaning of Life
The largest planet in the solar system.
Orbits once every 11.86 years.
It has a magnetic field 20,000 times stronger than that of Earth and sends out radio waves.
Jupiter lies between Mars and Saturn.
These stripe ranges of color include a bright yellow, grey, brown and blue.
O

Positive Traits
Optimistic and freedom-loving, jovial and good-humored,
 honest and straightforward,
 intellectual and philosophical.
Fearless communication with the spiritual realms.
Expression with calmness and ease,
understanding of abundance,
trust in your own madness.
O
O
O
The color: Indigo is the Third Eye Chakra
Indigo  means to have  a deep knowledge of spiritual truths and insights.
Ability to ‘see’ what is hidden and hear the inner guidance that is truth.
O
Indigo is the color of the deep midnight sky.
It can have a negative effect when used during a depressed state,
because it will deepen the mood.
Indigo symbolizes a mystical borderland of wisdom,
 self-mastery
 and
 spiritual realization.
While blue is the color of communication with others,
 indigo turns the blue inward,
 to increase personal thought,
 profound insights,
and
instant understandings.
While blue can be fast, indigo is almost instantaneous.
Inventors use indigo skills for inspirations that seem to ‘come out of the blue’.
O
Carrying the blue symbolism associated with the darker shades of blue,
indigo conveys trust, truthfulness, and stability.
It also may have some of the authority
and
royalty of purple as indigo
was considered a royal blue.
O
Indigo gemstones open the door to the subconscious,
symbolizing the bridge between the finite and infinite.
They are used as a guide to cosmic knowledge.
The indigo stones are indigo, sapphire, and azurite.
O
O
O
Mahatma Gandhi – My life is my teaching
O
O
O
Duke Ellington
( My stepfather played The Duke’s music all the time!)
Ellington called his music “American Music” rather than jazz,
and liked to describe those who impressed him as “beyond category”.
Miles Davis– studio album Kind of Blue
Nicholas Payton– studio album Into the Blue
