1 Sunlit is the Incense Summit, aglow in smoke and steam;
2 To afar, like a drape that glitters, a waterfall hangs upstream:
3 Flowing, flying, fluttering ~ plunging three thousand feet,
4 As if ‘twere the Silver River, falling from the heaven supreme.

The original paintings in the WATERFALL Collection
were created between 2003 and 2004.
I used a handheld squeegee that slid a deep blue down,
down, down either luminous gold or silver paper.
The WATERFALL Collection are improvisations,
with a deep breath,
I dove and created each work.

My sketchbook notes:
Fear and desire: the force of nature and passion when the moment
to fall must occur so as to fly.
The paintings mark the revelation of a precipitous,
urgent and forever turning point.
Breaking through the fortress and dam of fear and marks
the eternal moment
when the life force of love and desire eclipses fear.

The paintings are testaments of threshold moment when
the headlong plummet is the soaring wings:
singing YES, integrity and being true.
The falling is actually flying,
and a NEW river becomes alive.
Accepting the fall of one’s fortress when unmasked
by the consistent rhythm of love’s energy.
The work reflects the profound human experience
resonating and echoing
with Nature’s realities and phenomena.
